AIED Awarded Project for Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling with Matrix Comsec Integrated
Systems
Project Overview
AIED, a leading provider of innovative IT solutions, has recently been awarded the prestigious project to implement Matrix Comsec Saudi Arabia access control and integrated management systems at Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling. This project builds on AIED’s success with other Saudi Aramco facilities, such as Aramco Total and Aramco Schools, solidifying their reputation as a trusted partner in delivering secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.
Client Overview: Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling
Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling, a key player in the energy sector, required a comprehensive
security and management system to streamline operations while ensuring high standards of
security and compliance. The main challenge was integrating multiple systems into a single,
unified platform that could handle:
- Visitor Management
- Canteen Management
- Time and Attendance
- Access Control
In addition, the solution had to support advanced features, including:
- GDPR compliance
- SAP integration via APIs
- VAPT certification to ensure the highest security standards.
Key Challenges
1. Integrated Systems for Multi-functional Management
- The client needed an integrated system to manage access for both employees (using
facial recognition) and visitors (using QR cards). These systems also had to support
canteen management and time and attendance tracking.
2. GDPR Compliance & SAP Integration
- A critical focus was ensuring GDPR compliance while handling personal and biometric
data. The solution also required seamless SAP integration through built-in APIs for
synchronization with existing enterprise systems.
3. Low Bandwidth Utilization
- Given the large geographical spread and critical operations, the system had to be
optimized to minimize bandwidth consumption, ensuring efficient operation even in
areas with limited network resources.
4. VAPT Certification
- Security was paramount. The system had to meet Vulnerability Assessment and
Penetration Testing (VAPT) standards to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate
potential cyber threats.
Matrix Comsec Integrated Systems Solution
Matrix Comsec, with its extensive experience in developing secure and modular access control
and management systems, delivered a flexible and scalable solution that met all of Saudi
Aramco Nabors Drilling’s requirements. The solution was based on a modular architecture,
integrating several systems into one unified platform:
Visitor Management System (VMS)
- Matrix’s Visitor Management System automates the visitor registration, access control,
and tracking process. Visitors receive QR cards for secure entry, integrated with the
access control system to ensure access to authorized areas only.
Time and Attendance System:
- The Time and Attendance system is fully integrated with the access control system,
allowing employees to clock in and out using facial recognition. This eliminates the
need for physical cards or PINs, providing a faster, more secure method for tracking
work hours.
Canteen Management System:
- The Canteen Management System integrates with both Time and Attendance and
Access Control, enabling employees to use their access credentials (either facial
recognition or QR codes) to access the canteen and make purchases. This integration
reduces manual intervention and provides real-time data on employee attendance
and canteen usage.
Bandwidth Calculator:
- A unique feature of the Matrix Comsec solution is the Bandwidth Calculator, which
optimizes network usage by limiting transaction sizes to a minimal bandwidth
footprint (in KBs). This ensures smooth operation even in environments with limited
internet connectivity, ideal for large, geographically dispersed installations like Saudi
Aramco Nabors Drilling.
Key Benefits of the Integrated System
1. Enhanced Security and Efficiency
- The integrated system ensures high-level security for both employees and visitors.
With facial recognition for employees and QR cards for visitors, the system offers
secure, quick, and touchless access, minimizing physical contact and enhancing
hygiene and operational efficiency.
2. Modular, Scalable Solution
- The Matrix Comsec system’s modular architecture offers flexibility and scalability. As
Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling grows, additional modules such as canteen
management and time attendance can be seamlessly integrated without disruption.
3. GDPR Compliance
- The solution is designed to comply with GDPR data privacy regulations. Biometric and
personal data are securely stored and processed, ensuring the protection of employee
and visitor information.
4. SAP Integration with Built-in APIs
- The system integrates effortlessly with SAP via built-in APIs, allowing for smooth
synchronization with existing enterprise systems. This integration enhances
operational efficiency by ensuring all data related to access control, visitor
management, and time attendance is aligned with the organization’s broader IT
infrastructure.
5. VAPT Certified Security
- The solution meets VAPT certification standards, having undergone rigorous
Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing. This assures the client that their data
and systems are protected against external threats.
6. Optimized for Low Bandwidth
- The Bandwidth Calculator ensures that the system remains efficient in environments
with limited bandwidth. By controlling transaction sizes, the system operates smoothly
in remote or low-bandwidth areas, making it ideal for large, geographically dispersed
installations like Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling.
Project Significance and Impact
This project marks another milestone in AIED’s successful partnership with Matrix Comsec
Saudi Arabia, further strengthening their relationship with the Aramco family. After
completing projects at Aramco Total and Aramco Schools, AIED continues to prove its ability
to deliver secure, integrated, and efficient solutions for large-scale, critical operations.
With its modular architecture, GDPR compliance, SAP integration, and VAPT certification, the
project at Saudi Aramco Nabors Drilling sets a new benchmark for access control and
management systems in the region. The Matrix Comsec solution not only enhances security
and operational efficiency, but also ensures a scalable, future-proof system that will support
the company’s evolving needs.
Conclusion
The Ongoing implementation of Matrix Comsec Saudi Arabia integrated systems at Saudi
Aramco Nabors Drilling is another testament to AIED’s ability to provide cutting-edge, secure,
and efficient solutions for some of the most critical organizations in the world. By addressing
the challenges of access control, visitor management, canteen and time attendance
integration, GDPR compliance, and bandwidth optimization, this project ensures that Saudi
Aramco Nabors Drilling remains at the forefront of operational efficiency and security.
